Military time converter

Military time counts hours 00 to 23; from 13 to 23, subtract 12 and add PM, so 1300 is 1:00 PM. Convert either way below, or read the 24-hour chart.

Convert

Four digits, like 0730 or 1945. 13:00 and 930 work too

Method: 24-hour clock arithmetic. Minutes never change.

How military time works

Military time numbers the hours of the day from 00 to 23 and writes the time as four digits with no colon and no AM or PM. The first two digits are the hour, the last two are the minutes.

PM hours 1 to 11: add 12 (6:30 PM = 1830)
Hours 13 to 23: subtract 12, add PM (1945 = 7:45 PM)

Two hours break the pattern. 12:00 PM, noon, is 1200 with nothing added. 12:00 AM, midnight, is 0000. Times on your time card can be typed in 24-hour form too.
