Made for the people who check the hours

Who we are

A free, independent set of work-hours and overtime calculators. Every rule passes three steps before it reaches a result.

  1. 1 Read the law first

Each rule comes from the statute or the agency that enforces it, never from another calculator.

  2. 2 Test against it

898 automated tests run on every build, last on November 1, 2026. One is the Department of Labor's own example below.

  3. 3 Show the math

Pay results list each line of the sum, the rule used and the date it was last checked.

Example pay stub for a made-up employer, Harbor Lane Bakery Regular: 40.00 hours at 12.00, 480.00. Overtime: 6.00 hours at 18.00, 108.00. Gross pay 588.00. Reading the stub

The Department of Labor's own case in 29 CFR 778.110: 46 hours at $12.00.

  1. 6.00 hours are over 40 in the workweek, so they are overtime (29 U.S.C. 207).
  2. $18.00 is the overtime rate: $12.00 × 1.5.
  3. $588.00 is $480.00 + $108.00, the same total as the calculator at the top of the page.

Where the rules come from
