About SumTrue
SumTrue is a set of free calculators for working hours and pay: time cards, overtime, decimal hours, PTO and the tax deduction on overtime pay. You do not need an account, and nothing you type is sent to us.
Who runs it
SumTrue is run by one independent publisher, with no company behind it yet. If that changes, this page will say so. You can reach us at hello@sumtrue.com.
SumTrue is not a law firm, an accounting firm or a payroll provider. Nobody on this site is presented as a lawyer, accountant or payroll specialist, and no page carries a reviewer's name.
Why the calculators are built this way
A pay calculation can go wrong in two places: adding up the time, and choosing the rule. A minute lost when converting 7:50 to decimal hours, or a California daily overtime rule left out, changes a paycheck. So each calculator does three things:
- It does the arithmetic in exact whole units, so a week of minutes never drifts by a cent.
- It names the rule it applied, such as 29 U.S.C. 207 for federal overtime or California Labor Code 510 for daily overtime.
- It links that rule to the official source and shows the date the rule was last checked.
How the math is tested and how each fact is traced to its source is on the Methodology page.
How SumTrue is paid for
The calculators are free. At launch the site shows no ads and carries no affiliate links. If either is added later, it will be labeled where it appears and listed on the Affiliate and ad disclosure page before it goes live.
How the content is made
Pages are written and the calculators are coded with the help of software tools, including AI writing and coding assistants. Every rule, number and date on a page is checked by hand against the official source (a statute, a federal or state labor department page, or the IRS) before it is published, and every calculation runs against test cases worked out from those sources.
